Senior Consultant - ESG Modern Slavery & Human Rights (12-Month Contract)
Make a real impact as a Senior Consultant, tackling modern slavery and human rights challenges while shaping responsible, inclusive supply chains.
Why Edge Impact?
At Edge Impact, our mission is simple and ambitious: to create a world where unsustainable is unthinkable.
We’re a team of passionate, collaborative, and courageous people who partner with leading businesses across industries to deliver positive global impact. We do this through the power of science, strategy, and storytelling, combining evidence, actionable plans, and inspiration to drive real change.
When you join Edge, you’ll work alongside smart, kind humans who care deeply about creating a better future for our clients, communities, and the world.
Your Role
We’re looking for a Senior Consultant to join our ESG team with 3-5 years of hands-on experience in modern slavery and human rights, ideally in a consulting or applied setting.
We partner with organisations to build responsible, resilient, and inclusive supply chains that respect human rights, eliminate modern slavery, and create positive social impact.
You’ll work closely with our team of experts on projects, engage directly with clients and mentor consultants and analysts in the team. In this Senior Consultant position, you’ll have the opportunity to grow within the company and make a real impact.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Assess and understand risks – Map complex supply chains using data and analytics to identify human rights and modern slavery risks.
- Plan and implement solutions – Design and support mitigation strategies aligned with the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs), OECD Due Diligence Guidance, and ILO standards.
- Embed ethical procurement – Turn commitments into practical and measurable actions across procurement and governance systems.
- Strengthen governance and transparency – Develop policies, escalation pathways, and remediation approaches that enhance accountability and visibility across the supply chain.
- Lead reporting and disclosures – Prepare modern slavery statements and ESG reports in line with the Australian Modern Slavery Act and international best practice.
- Build capability – Deliver workshops and training programmes for clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Engage stakeholders – Work collaboratively with executives, procurement leads, suppliers, civil society, and Indigenous communities to embed ethical sourcing and social value.
- Contribute to business development – Support proposal writing, client engagement, and relationship management alongside senior leaders.
What Good Looks Like?
- You’re known for your credibility in physical climate risk, internally and with clients
- You produce high-quality work that’s technically grounded and commercially useful
- Clients value your input and want to work with you again
- You help shape and guide the direction of our platform and offer
- You’re generous with knowledge and help others grow around you
What we’re looking for
Must-have
- 3–5 years’ experience in modern slavery and human rights, ideally within consultancy or applied practice.
- A solid understanding of risk assessment, mitigation, and due diligence in supply chains.
- Proven ability to apply UNGPs, OECD, and ILO frameworks in real-world contexts.
- Confidence using data and analytics to assess and communicate risk.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report and statement preparation.
- Experience managing diverse stakeholder relationships, from executives to frontline teams.
- Experience supporting Indigenous engagement or supplier diversity initiatives (highly valued).
- A collaborative and adaptable approach — comfortable leading tasks independently while mentoring others.
Additional experience that's valued
- Lived experience of labour exploitation or marginalisation - insight into worker realities, and the ability to translate those into stronger accountability, due diligence, and risk management approaches.
Why Join Edge Impact?
- Purpose-Driven Work – Be part of the change you want to see in the world.
- Flexible Work Culture – Work when and where you thrive.
- Career Growth – We invest in your learning and development.
- B Corp Certified – We walk the talk on sustainability.
At Edge Impact, diversity is our strength. We encourage applicants from all backgrounds and walks of life to bring their whole selves to work.
