The role
We are seeking a highly experienced and passionate Strategic Communications lead to join our team. In this role, you will lead our work across communications and content in helping our clients deliver and execute initiatives that promote sustainability outcomes, build sustainable brands and drive positive change across a wide, varied spectrum of industries.
Our ideal candidate has extensive experience working in consulting or agency settings (in-house experience also welcome), and brings a deep understanding of sustainability issues. They will have a proven track record in developing and implementing successful communications strategies and delivering high-quality copy and campaigns for brands.
Your responsibilities
Leading and developing the Edge Impact communications service offer:
- Service Offering: maintain and refine Edge’s sustainability communications service offering, including the development and delivery of thought leadership to help clients navigate greenwashing vs greenhushing, sustainable brand development, and sustainability storytelling.
- Business Development: Growing and developing the strategic communications pipeline of work through the development of proposals, and client engagement both as part of a larger team and as an individual stream.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, partners, media, and colleagues to promote evidence-backed sustainability communications.
- Team Leadership and Mentoring: Provide guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering a collaborative, creative, and high-performing work environment.
- Metrics and Evaluation: Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success and impact of sustainability communications efforts.
Delivering high-quality communications strategies, deliverables and outcomes for our clients
- Strategic Planning: Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to develop comprehensive sustainability communications and brand strategies aligned with their goals and objectives.
- Messaging and Content Development: Create compelling, crafted narratives, key messages, and highly engaging content that effectively communicates sustainability initiatives, accomplishments, and commitments to various target audiences.
- Thought Leadership: Identify opportunities to position clients as thought leaders in sustainability through speaking engagements, industry conferences, articles, and op-eds.
- Campaign Execution: Lead the implementation of integrated communications campaigns, utilising a mix of traditional and digital channels to maximise reach and impact.
Our Wishlist
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in brand & communications, with a focus on sustainability. Previous consulting or agency experience is strongly preferred and we welcome in-house experience.
- Sustainability Expertise: In-depth knowledge of sustainability issues, trends, and best practices, with a proven ability to translate complex concepts into compelling messages.
- Strategic Thinker: Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to develop innovative communications strategies and solutions that drive measurable impact.
- Brand and Audience Aware: Understanding of how to align communications strategy with brand strategy and audience insights to develop effective copy, content and campaigns.
- Relationship Building: Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability create both technical and creative messages, tailored to different audiences and platforms effectively.
- Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
- Leadership Abilities: Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to guide and inspire a team of creative and communications professionals.
- Digital Expertise: Familiarity with digital marketing and social media platforms, including content development, community management, and analytics.
- Ethical and Values-Driven: Deep commitment to sustainability, corporate responsibility, and ethical business practices.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field. A relevant advanced degree is a plus.
